Shark Season has arrived, and the waters of Palia are feeling a little more toothy than usual. With the new Highland Shark now swimming through the Royal Highlands, Palia's waters are home to more sharks than ever before. As for Ogopuu, they may not be sharks, but they're close enough in spirit to a land shark that we're counting them in.
That's why we're kicking off Maws and Paws, a week-long community event where players will join forces to hunt Sharks and Ogopuu, unlock community rewards, and make a splash along the way.
Whether you're a seasoned shark hunter or just looking for an excuse to gather some friends and explore, there are plenty of ways to join the hunt. Cast a line in search of a massive Maws, track an Ogopuu through the Elderwoods, or assemble a full party and see how many creatures you can rein in before the event comes to a close.
Don't forget to dive into the Path of the Maws. Every Highland Shark caught is worth 5x points toward the community goal. Additionally, every Maws caught is worth 2x points.
This event is all about working together to hit milestone goals and unlock rewards for the entire community. Rewards will be delivered straight to your News Inbox, so everyone can celebrate the community's fin-tastic success together.

Maws and Paws runs from July 20 to July 27, 2026.
Goals and Rewards
If the community can collectively hunt/collect the top goal, everyone who participates will receive a fin-tastic set of rewards.
Please note that the specific goals will be announced closer to the event date.

- You can tackle Maws and Paws solo or team up with other players to hunt/fish together. Channels like #lfg-chat and #parties are perfect places to connect with players ready to join your crew.

- Maws - Counts 2x Towards The Community Goals

FAQ
Do I need to hunt and fish EVERYTHING myself?
Nope! This is a shared global goal across ALL players and platforms. Every shark/ogopuu from every player counts towards the total.
Can I work on this event with my friends?
Absolutely! We highly encourage you to party up as there are plenty of perks for hunting and fishing together.
How do I catch the new Highland Shark?
The Highlands Shark can be caught after unlocking it for free through progression on the Path of the Maws Lunar Path.
What do I do with the items/sharks collected once I hunt/fish them? Can I sell them?
Sell them, save them, use them in recipes/crafters, make a shark aquarium, or whatever you desire! Once you have fished/hunted, the choice is yours on what to do with the items collected.
What is the Teleport Potion?
This potion lets you bypass the cooldown for both home teleportation and directly teleporting to friends!
What is the Vote for a new Fishing Bobber?
If the community reaches the target, players will have the chance to vote for a new Fishing Bobber design that we will implement in a future update!
How will we know when we hit the goal?
Progress updates will be shared throughout the week on Discord, news, and social media when milestones are hit so you will know how close we are to reaching the goals!
