'Mini' Dev Blog: The Royal Highlands and Beyond

Greetings, Palians!

We hope you are all having a wonderful time hoofin’ it through the Royal Highlands! The Royal Highlands Expansion launch has been our north star for a long time, and now that it’s out in the wild, we’re finally ready to pull back the curtain on the trail ahead and share what’s next for Palia. Of course, if you haven’t already, we’re excited for you all to jump into the Royal Highlands, saddle up, and start exploring everything the expansion has to offer.

At the highest level, this expansion brings:

• A new map, The Royal Highlands, featuring a vast regal landscape built for exploration, discovery, and sweeping cliffsides.
• Ride, raise, and breed your own horses, introducing mounts as a brand new way to traverse the world.
• A new chapter of our Main Story.
• A new regal Villager joins Palia.
• Amber Echo, a new core resource, is woven throughout the region.
• New Artifacts, Relics, Vaults, and Treasures are yours to discover and claim.
• New huntable creatures including Jaakcats, Royal Sernuk, and masked variants with unique abilities
• Dozens of new Insects and Fish to discover, shaped by ancient experimentation.
• New materials, including a new type of wood, ore, and a wide range of foragables.
• New arrow types, potions, and utility items to support your Royal Highlands adventures.
• A new set of Campfire cooking recipes including teas and food perfect for on-the-go cooking.
• Introducing a massive decor expansion featuring the elegant Aristocrat’s set, Teatime Set, new plushes and much more.
• A new storage tier, adding 4,000 more storage space to your collection!
• The brand new “Ancient Home Line” with refined architectural pieces and a third story upgrade.
• And so much more.

Dye System

As mentioned in the patch notes, we’ve overhauled the clothing coloring system to give you far more possibilities to strut your style. Previously, only a few color presets for clothing were available. You’ll still have access to all of those presets, but now a whole spectrum of dyes are at your disposal.

In Patch 0.202, this system supports all starter outfits, the new outfit additions to this patch, and several premium outfits. And you’ll be happy to know that many recent fan-favorites, such as Slyph, Draconic Knight, Heavenly Creatures, Rapunzel, and Rune Warrior, and more are included

Over time, we’ll continue stitching this feature into even more outfits, and we expect many additional looks to be supported in Patch 0.203 and beyond.

Looking ahead to a Sunkissed Summer

Of course, there’s plenty more shimmering just beyond the golden horizon of the Royal Highlands, including our upcoming Sunkissed Summer updates. You can look forward to additional royal furniture to adorn your new home line, new collectibles, new Nameplates, fresh gameplay features, and beyond.

In the Sunkissed Summer of updates, expect catchy KPOP rhythms in the air, Riffrocs, crustacean invasions, celebrations across every shore, and so much more. You’ll even be able to meet Nai’o’s beloved Sugarfoot!

As the seasons change, love can bloom and fill the air. Sifuu's no longer tied up in plot strings (!!!), so look forward to romancing her in the later half of this year, as well as another exciting option (rawr). We also know people are dying to ask where Eshelon's romance is- don't worry! We fully intend to release a friendship and romance for him as soon as he gets freed from those pesky plot strings, too!
